Kelli Cavey

Kelli is a partner at Embolden and has spent her career working in the fields of estate and tax planning and philanthropy. Kelli loves partnering with community foundations and nonprofits across the country to help them achieve their strategic and growth goals. Having served in an executive leadership role at a community foundation herself, she enjoys empowering teams, sharing practical ideas, and rolling up her sleeves to help clients get real work done.

Throughout her career, Kelli has worked in estate and tax planning, as well as charitable giving. She brings deep, practical experience and is passionate about helping community foundations and nonprofits find practical solutions, strengthen donor relationships, and grow charitable giving in their communities.

Before joining Embolden, Kelli served as Vice President of the Omaha Community Foundation, where she led a team that worked alongside donors and their financial, legal, and tax advisors to make charitable giving easier and more meaningful. She also led the Foundation’s professional advisor outreach and training efforts, including the Foundation’s nationally recognized Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) study group program. 

Kelli also created and managed the Omaha Community Foundation’s Impact Investing Program, providing affordable, flexible capital to nonprofits. Known for her focus on practical solutions and continuous improvement, she led numerous initiatives to strengthen the Foundation’s operations, including updating fund agreements and policies and enhancing the overall fund holder experience.

Before joining the Omaha Community Foundation, Kelli practiced law for 10 years, focusing on estate planning and tax matters. In addition to earning her Juris Doctor, Kelli earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from The American College of Financial Services. She is also a Certified Advisor with 21/64, helping families navigate meaningful multi-generational philanthropic conversations.

Kelli serves on multiple nonprofit and professional boards in her community. She is a graduate of Leadership Omaha Class 42 and a Midlands Business Journal 40 Under 40 recipient.

Kelli lives in Omaha with her husband, four kids, and two dogs.
