Embolden is proud to announce the launch of a new website for The New York Community Trust, a venerable (yet tech-forward) community foundation that has been an institution in New York City since its founding in 1924. The Trust is one of the country's largest community foundations, with assets of more than $1.5 billion in nearly 2,000 charitable funds.

We are honored to have been chosen to work with The Trust to create a beautiful, highly usable, content-rich website built on our development framework Matriarch™, powered by DotNetNuke®.

New Yorkers (and ex-patriots like me) may recognize The Trust’s name by the myriad plaques that can be found around the city commemorating famous NYC landmarks, such as the Chelsea Hotel, The US Custom House and The Flatiron Building. Several hundred of these were put up by The Trust throughout the five boroughs between 1957 and 1968: you can track a selection of them on the website using a customized version of a Google Map API.  Using the same Google Maps API technology, you can also view a sampling of funds by geographic location on the “Grantmaking in the City” page.

We hope you enjoy visiting the site as much as we did creating it. As for myself, it gives me another good excuse to head on down to The Big Apple to say “hi” to our new friends!
